Science Club is one of VTeam's student-led 'Regular Projects'.
Our volunteers run weekly 'after-school' sessions in local Primary Schools, creating fun and engaging experiments using simple household items and ingredients.
- We're looking for volunteers who can share their enthusiasm for Science and learning with the children we work with.
- You don't need to be studying Science at degree level, but you do need to be confident enough to explain the science behind simple and fun experiments.
- Classroom experience is a plus, but the main thing is that you can be confident and enthusiastic in a classroom setting.
All sessions are led by a Science Club Session Leader.
VTeam arrange and pay for travel to and from sessions.

Please note that sessions for Science Club will begin in January 2027.
As of academic year 2026/27, all our regular volunteering projects that work with schools or children require all volunteers to undergo a enhanced DBS check with barred list.
By registering for this volunteering project, you are consenting to be submitted for this enhanced DBS check with barred list.
1. You will be contacted to complete the project registration process. This involves online safeguarding training, and reading and acknowledging the Volunteering Agreement.
2. VTeam will send your details (name and Essex email) to the Student Progress team at the university who will process these checks.
3. You will be contacted by them to fill in all necessary information through an online portal.
4. Once the checks come back as clear, you will be ready to volunteer for sessions.
5. Volunteers will not be allowed to take part in this project until the check has come back clear. In the event that a check comes back containing information, we will get in touch with you to discuss next steps.
