In here, you will find all you need to know about how to participate in this micro-volunteering; how this will benefit community; how this could help you for your club standards or society badges, or any individual awards you are trying to achieve (e.g. Big Essex Award) and in order to do that you might require some volunteering.
So, it’s win-win really, but the most important thing, you will give your valued time to the community and contribute to spread kindness in these especially difficult times.
Motivation and Inspiration:
- For completing the full Volunteering Bingo Card, you will receive 5.5 hours of volunteering (that’s how long it should take you to complete all 20 micro-volunteering activities)
- You do not have to complete all activities, the more you do, the more hours of volunteering you will receive
- Each activity is worth 15 min, plus an additional 30 min for other admin bits that you might need to do (e.g. tag relevant accounts on social media channels, send us complete card, read information sheets, share card with us etc.)
- Every activity will benefit community directly or indirectly. Direct effect would be things like: to call someone; donate a food item; or share awareness of smaller charities, while indirect activities: would be aimed at providing you skills and increasing your willingness to participate in more community support initiatives
- As a volunteering department, we do not usually encourage competition; however, in these challenging times, it can be difficult to find motivation to complete tasks. As a result, we would like to increase your motivation to help others engage in this brand-new volunteering bingo project with a little competition where you will be able to enter a competition draw
- 3 competition draws: £30, £20, £10 Amazon gift vouchers
- Everyone that submits all 20 completed activities will be entered into the £30 draw
- All submitted activities of 15 or more will be entered into £20 draw
- All submitted activities of 10 or more will be entered into £10 draw
- Important note, maximum one prize per person; however, 20 activities submission will enter into all 3 draws, 15 activities into 2 draws
- If you want to participate in the draws, you need to submit your bingo card to the su@essex.ac.uk by saying please include me in a prize draw; subject line – Bingo Card, Want to be included in a draw
- Your email address will be used only for the draw
Guidance:
- We encourage everyone to share their bingo cards on their social media no matter how many activities they have completed
- To get your 5.5 hours (or other amount depending on a number of completed activities) of volunteering logged to your official university profile – we need to be either tagged by our main social links (which you can find below) or send us a completed card to su@essex.ac.uk; subject line - Bingo Card
- We would love to share your good work with the community; thus, being tagged will facilitate this
- You need to tick, mark or cross completed activities by your choice of a shape, to show what activities you have done
- You have one week (7 days) to complete this bingo
- Volunteering Bingo Cards need to be submitted no latter 15th February 8am
- You must follow local guidelines and restrictions when participating in any events that might require you to leave your property. Please follow relevant guidance by where you are currently residing
