Digital certificates

Introduction

Birmingham City University are official partners with Gradintelligence, who provide graduates with a digital version of their award certificate alongside their physical copy. Digital certificates are provided automatically, and you will receive an activation link to your BCU email address to set up an account within 10 working days of you being awarded.

If you no longer have access to your BCU email address, please contact certificates@bcu.ac.uk with your student ID number, proof of ID and your preferred email address so we can update your account and send a new activation link to your personal email.

Students who have outstanding academic-related debt to the University will not be provided with a digital certificate until this has been settled in full and updated on your record.

Studying with a Home or Overseas partner college

All award documents are requested and sent to your partner college, so we therefore we cannot provide you with a digital certificate unless this request has come directly from your college.

If you are studying with us through a partner college, please contact them directly to ask them to request a digital certificate on your behalf and confirm the following details:

  • Student number
  • Full name
  • Date of birth

Sharing your digital certificate

Gradintelligence enables graduates with the option to share their digital certificate securely with prospective employers, universities and third parties. However, you cannot download this certificate due to security reasons.

By creating a Gradintelligence account, graduates can develop an online personal profile and take advantage of the talent matching service, which can connect students with targeted graduate level employment and/or further education opportunities.

Awards achieved between 2010-2019

If you achieved your award between 2010 and September 2019, please submit an individual request to certificates@bcu.ac.uk including your full name (as you were enrolled), student ID (if known), proof of ID to verify your request, and a personal email address which you are happy for us to create an account with. Please do not create your own account as this will prevent us from successfully registering your details.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for a digital certificate to be made available to graduates who were awarded prior to 2010 due to the University having changed record systems after this time.

For advice on how to activate your Gradintelligence account, please see our FAQs.

For further support please contact certificates@bcu.ac.uk or customerservices@gradintel.com ensuring you include your full name, date of birth, student email address and student ID number.
