Due to COVID-19, care homes are under strict lockdowns meaning that residents are completely cut off from family members and visitors. This marks the beginning of a very dark and lonely period for elderly people across the world. Now is the time for communities to pull together and so we have contacted our partner care homes in Colchester to offer our support. These care homes have expressed an enormous interest in receiving postcards, letters and drawings from students, anything to brighten up the residents’ days and keep them going through these difficult times. Whether you write about your week, your interests, family and friends, practice your hand at poetry or write a short story; residents will be chuffed to receive post from the outside world. Pick one of the two care homes listed below or send stuff to both! Also, take a selfie of your masterpiece and share with us - positive actions attract more positive actions!
Please ensure that you incorporate the physical posting of items into your daily exercise allowance. Do not use it as an excuse to exceed the government’s guidance of leaving the house.
