Accessibility statement

This statement relates to webpages accessible by student and graduate users via a web address beginning with https://gradintel.com.

Gradintelligence is committed to making our website as accessible as possible to people with special needs, including those with hearing, visual, cognitive and motor impairments. We are constantly working towards improving the accessibility of our website to ensure that we provide equal access to all of our users.

Introduction

We have aimed to meet at least level 2 (AA) of the W3C's Website Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Guidelines, and meet as many requirements of level 3 (AAA). This ensures that we comply with UK legislation which includes the disability discrimination act (1995) as revised by the Special Education Needs and Disability Act (2001), which declares that it is an offence to discriminate against a disabled person by treating them less favourably than others for a reason relating to their disability.

As part of our commitment, we ensure all users can:

  • Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software

We have also tried to make the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Browser accessibility

Our website is designed to function on the most up-to-date version of the following browsers:

  • Safari
  • Internet explorer

We also endeavour to support previous versions as best we can, resolving compatibility issues for older versions where possible.

Navigation accessibility

To navigate through links within the site menu and the main text of each page use the TAB key. Once a link has been highlighted, use the ENTER key to activate the link.

To help users who are using screen readers, we have a skip button at the top of every page which is used to skip the top and left menu, straight onto the main content.

Content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services.

Accessibility support for PDFs will only be added on request by our institution partners, in a way that conforms to their accessibility standards.

Third party content

Some employer, agency or institution users may choose to link content hosted on external websites that are not owned or developed by Gradintelligence. This content may not be accessible.

Gradintelligence is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We are committed to improving accessibility across our websites on all devices. As a team, we ensure that there is a continuous improvement in the accessibility of digital content. In addition, we are:

  • Performing additional checks before publishing new developments to the live website.
  • We are adding accessibility guidance to our documentation for external institution staff who customise content on the website, including checklists to follow.

How we tested this website

Automated testing: We used the automated testing tool/browser extension WAVE for Chrome and Firefox.

Manual testing: we used an accessibility checklist/tools provided by https://www.w3.org/WAI/test-evaluate/ to manually check a representative sample of pages from across our website. This included checking that our pages can be navigated using only a keyboard, and testing any colour contrasts.

Issues with third-party tools

  • Embedded toast ui calendars cannot be navigated with a keyboard. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard).

Test report

Our accessibility test report shows test feedback and if the requirements have been met.
